About Hunt Farms

WE ARE PROUD TO BE AMERICAN FARMERS

We are a “family” run cash crop farm raising corn, soybeans, and red winter wheat.  We also service area elevators and farmers throughout Michigan and Ohio with a small trucking fleet delivering various commodities, as well as seed, fertilizers, and even stone when requested.

How did we get here?

Our farm started in the early 60s when the late Harold and Doreen Hunt purchased the 110 acres in Davison. In the beginning, they raised cattle and sheep and some hay and a small amount of corn.

When their oldest son Bill graduated from High school in 1973 he took over the reins and his parents supported his decision to transition from livestock to 100% cash crops.  Dad and Mom helped on the farm until they retired in the late 90s.  Both have since passed away.

In 1979 we incorporated, and over the years the farm has expanded to 11,500 acres raising crops in 4 different counties with 19 full time employees and 4 seasonal employees during the busy planting and harvesting time of year.

In 2008 we did major renovations to our drying system and grain complex.  We can now receive 12,000 bushels of grain per hour and our dryer can dry 5,000 bushels per hour.  We also have a storage capacity of about 1 million bushels.  This upgrade has allowed us to help other farmers with the harvesting process by drying, cleaning, and delivering their grain to the elevator.  We are not considered a grain elevator because we do not market others crops, and we don’t buy the grain from the farmer.

Our Team

The Hunt Farms Family

Hunt Farms operates with an exceptional full-time team of 19 people, some of which have been with the farm for 30-plus years. This is one reason we can call ourselves a “family farm” 3-4 seasonal people return every spring and fall to help with the planting and harvesting as well.
